It is our fundamental human right to know that how our precious resources are spent by the government. It is our democratic right to have access to the information held by public bodies. Government is bound to provide and disclose the information in proactive manner. This fundamental and Democratic right is farfetched without an effective Right to Information Law at the Federal level in Pakistan. Join us to make your voice heard!
CPDI is working to protect and promote citizens’ constitutional right of access to information held by public bodies. The Right of Access to Information Bill 2017 approved in the Senate is highly restrictive like Freedom of Information Ordinance 2002 which it seeks to repeal. Journalists and citizens are already facing difficulties in getting access to certified information from the public bodies of Federal Government and this bill will not change the situation. Citizens, Civil Society groups and Journalists are cordially invited to participate in the protest rally against this highly restrictive Right to information bill. The protest rally will be held in front of National Press Club on Thursday, August 03, 2017 from 4:00 to 04:30pm.
