Coalition on Right to Information (CRTI), established CRTI RTI Champions Awards in 2014 to promote the constructive use of right to information laws in Pakistan. Main objective of the Annual RTI Champion Awards is to acknowledge the efforts made by common citizens and journalists to get access to information held by public bodies.
Every year, Centre for peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) executes the one of its kind, RTI Champions Award Ceremony on the International Right to Know Day i.e. September 28th. The International Right to know day is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness about people’s right to access information held by government departments and public bodies while promoting Right to Information as essential to both democracy and good governance.
RTI Champion Award will be given in two categories. A citizen and a Journalist; who persistently use any of the RTI laws to have access to information held by government departments.
