Coalition on Right to Information, (CRTI), established CRTI RTI Champions Awards in 2014 to promote the use of right to information laws in the country. These awards are given in two categories i.e. journalists, and citizens. In journalists’ category, the award is given to a journalist who uses right to information laws for investigative reporting. IN the citizens’ category, the award is given to a citizen who uses right to information laws for the attainment of her/his rights. In 2014, the awards were given to Mr. Umar Cheema, in journalist’s category, and Mr. Sabahat Ghaznavi, in citizen’s category.
IN 2015, the award in journalists’ category was given to Mr. Waseem Abbasi and in citizens category, the award was given to Mr. Arif Noor.
2016 edition of CRTI Champions Awards ceremony will be held at National Press Club on September 26, 2016 from 03:00 pm to 04:00 pm.
