The project envisages cast effective communication strategy through utilizing local professional groups. Local professional groups include barber associations/groups, community organisations, water user associations, private schools associations, clerk unions, bar associations, and unions of journalists. These professional groups are mandated to work for the wellbeing of fellow group’ members and have valuable knowledge of the local socio-economic systems. This knowledge can be capitalized on through networking, if members of these groups are mobilized and convinced of utility of the civic awareness messages.
The overall objective of the project is to devise and implement as a pilot a cost effective communication strategy through mobilizing local professional groups, with potential for replication. The specific objectives of the project are:
Mapping of the local professional groups in Tehsils Shorkot (District Jhang) and Gujar Khan (District Rawalpindi)
Checking the strengths and weaknesses of these groups to act as communication channel for spreading Civic awareness messages
